A Brief History of Beachwood, Ohio
Located on Cleveland's East Side, Beachwood was originally part of Warrensville Township before incorporating as a village in 1915. Beachwood gained city status in 1960 as its population and commercial base expanded rapidly.
The opening of Beachwood Place mall in 1978—an upscale shopping destination anchored by Nordstrom and Dillard's—cemented the city's reputation as a premier retail and lifestyle center. Today, Beachwood is home to numerous corporate headquarters, medical facilities, and professional offices clustered along Chagrin Boulevard and Richmond Road.
